Republic Services and Allied Waste complete merger
Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE:RSG)and Allied Waste Industries, Inc. (NYSE: AW) today announced that they have completed their merger to create one of the nation's leading waste and environmental services providers. The combined company, which will be based in Phoenix, is named Republic Services, Inc. and trades under the ticker symbol "RSG" on The New York Stock Exchange. As of the close of the market on December 5, Allied stock will be delisted and will no longer trade on the NYSE.

Allied Waste rewards customers for recycling
Allied Waste is pleased to announce an exciting new relationship with RecycleBank, the premier rewards and loyalty program that motivates people to recycle. UPCOMING EVENTS
Spring 2010 Compost Giveaways
Saturday March 13 and Saturday April 10

Allied Waste and RethinkWaste will be teaming up with member communities to give away compost this Spring.  The compost is made from local residential yard trimmings and composted at our Newby Island facility.  Residents will be able to take up to 1 cubic yard of compost (about six full garbage cans) at no charge from selected locations as long as supply lasts. Residents should bring shovels, gloves, containers, and proof of residency.

March 13th &  April 10th locations: 
Atherton: Holbrook-Palmer Park – 150 Watkins Ave
Belmont: City Hall Parking Lot – 1070 Sixth Ave
Burlingame: Burlingame High School – 420 Carolan Ave
East Palo Alto: Corporation Yard – 150 Tara St (March 13th only)
Fair Oaks: Flood Park - 215 Bay Road, Menlo Park
Foster City: Boat Park - Foster City Blvd and Bounty
Hillsborough: 1600 Floribunda Ave

2010 HMB Clean-Up Week
Single Family Dwellings: Residents are allowed to set out a maximum of 2 cubic yards of material, which is equivalent to twelve (12) 32-gallon bags of material. In addition, residents can set out one (1) large item (e.g. washing machine, dryer, refrigerator or freezer), a computer or a TV as long as the item does not exceed 200 pounds. No commercial size refrigerators or freezers are accepted. TVs and computer monitors require special handling so please call (650)592-2411 to dispose of these items. No hazardous waste (e.g. paints, thinners, or other chemicals) will be accepted for on call clean-ups or for regular collection service.

Multi Family Dwellings: Residents are allowed to set out a maximum of 1 cubic yard of material, which is equivalent to six (6) 32-gallon bags of material. In addition, residents can set out one (1) large item (e.g. washing machine or dryer), a computer or a TV as long as the item does not exceed 200 pounds. No refrigerators or freezers are allowed. TVs and computer monitors require special handling so please call 650.592.2411 to dispose of these items. No hazardous waste (e.g. paints, thinners, or other chemicals) will be accepted for on call clean- ups or for regular collection service.

How to Participate in Your Scheduled Clean-up:
Clean-up material must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled pick-up day.
All trash must be bagged, boxed, bundled (bundles should be 4 feet or less) or containerized. There is 60 pound weight limit per container, box, bundle, or bag.
 
Please keep yard trimmings and clean wood waste separate from clean-up material as it can be recycled. Yard trimmings and wood must also be boxed, bundled or containerized. There is 60 pound weight limit per container, box, bundle, or bag. 

Prohibited materials include: motor vehicles, vehicle parts and batteries, tires, motorcycles, dirt, rock, stucco, concrete, hot ashes, animal waste, poison oak, commercial refrigerators, or toxic substances and paint. Please keep mixed paper, cardboard, and bottles & cans separate for recycling.
